Textile Post

Just dropped my first load of dry cleaning off in NYC after living here for two years, (I had always brought it to my old cleaners in Jersey previously) and I was expecting to be horrified at the price. It actually wasn't too bad, but it got me thinking...

Do some of you check for the type of textile a piece is made of before buying? Do you factor in the lifetime cost of maintaining the garment before buying? Do you avoid silks?

What is the cost of your dry cleaning per garment type based on where you live?

If you avoid dry cleaning, how do you care for upscale fabrics? Please share tips!
