No. 22 says hello
The Top 10 Vogue Models for 2010
based on only girl editorials, number of appearances, and photographers
Original editorials only, no reprints!
10. ABBEY LEE KERSHAW
Abbey is the nomad of the year. She showed up in many international editions of Vogue, yet doesn't wear out her welcome in any one place. She also managed to nab 7 Vogue covers, all without having to share the spotlight.
9. CONSTANCE JABLONSKI
The girl who ruled September shows that it was clearly all in a days work. And like Abbey, she played the part of roaming gnome quite well.
8. ANJA RUBIK
Anja's covers for the year have reached epic Gisele-proportions and she isn't doing too bad on the editorial front either, obviously. Her home was mostly in Vogue Paris, but that isn't to say that no one else wanted a piece of her (covers and accompanying edits in Mexico, Korea, Espana, Germany and Russia, to be exact).
7. SASHA PIVOVAROVA
Vogue Italia favourite? Check. Consistent appearances in the pages of Vogue US? Check. Sticking around the Top 10 like it ain't no thang? Check check check.
6. DARIA WERBOWY
Daria continues kicking editorial ass and taking names. She retains her cozy no. 6 spot from last year, which simply translates to her continuing to be as awesome as she was the year before. No surprise there.
5. ENIKO MIHALIK
Open up a copy of Vogue Paris from this year and 4 times out of 5 she will be there somewhere. Not only is Vogue crazy about Eniko, but so is basically every other publication out there, and if I had the stamina to delve further into it (which I don't) I'd probably be telling you that she was Queen of the Magazine Editorial for the year (which I won't). It's important to note that Eniko is the only model on this list with less than 3 Vogue covers for the year. In fact... she doesn't have any.
4. LARA STONE
Lara spends lots of time on the pages of any Vogue that matters (no offense Vogue Mexico). The girl has clout coming out of her ears. And now with a ring on her finger and British hubby by her side, Vogue UK has called dibs. They used her more than any other model this year.
3. FREJA BEHA ERICHSEN
It's that damn Freja. She's so hot right now. Not only was she a star in Vogue, like Eniko, she was a star pretty much everywhere else. She managed to skyrocket towards the top of the list compared to last year... though currying favour with Meisel, being a Vogue UK darling and a lot of love from Vogue Paris will have that affect.
2. KARLIE KLOSS
Some Vogue UK and China love for the youngest of them all is a good start, but don't fret, Karlie is continuing her reign over Vogue US. In fact, I'm certain you couldn't pry her away from Anna Wintour with a crowbar. They are in a deeply committed relationship. On the other hand...
1. RAQUEL HBIC ZIMMERMANN
If Vogue and Raquel were in a relationship, it appears that Vogue would play the part of the very jealous, possessive boyfriend. Not only do they love her, they do not appreciate her interacting with anyone else (models or magazines, that is). Luckily for Raquel, this makes her Ruler of the Only Girl editorial, and Queen for this year. Well done! I'd offer a congratulatory hug if I didn't think Vogue would get violently jealous.
And a very special mention to...
Liu gets a special place among the list as the number one non-white Vogue model of the year, hovering around 16th overall. She and Du Juan ruled over Vogue China, and Liu got both March and September covers for that magazine. Now if only she'd get more play in editions other than her native China...
No. 22 says goodbye.
FYI, I do the best with what information the internet provides, and as such I have no (or extremely limited) information on Hellas, India and Taiwan editions of Vogue.
